general info

The primary goal of the CRI study is to understand the crying patterns of newborn babies and how we can best help babies who cry excessively.

Doctors’ understanding of the range of normal infant crying is surprisingly limited. While your baby’s doctor can accurately plot your baby’s height and weight and compare those to other babies of the same sex and age; there is no comparable growth curve to describe normal infant crying. This study will use audio recording data of infant crying to better understand the normal range of infant crying.

Funding for this study is from a grant awarded by the UCSF Research Development Office.
