New Pediatric Reference Book Authored by UCSF Pediatricians
On June 15, 2012, the book The Pediatrics Mentor: Pediatrics Clerkship & Shelf Exam Companion was released by the FA Davis Company (Philadelphia, PA). The book was edited by Michael D. Cabana, MD, MPH, and Lee R. Atkinson-McEvoy, MD. Dr. Cabana is a Professor of Pediatrics and a member of the Core Faculty in the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies. Both Drs Cabana and Atkinson-McEvoy are members of the UCSF Division of General Pediatrics.
In a short period of time during a pediatrics clerkship, medical students are expected to develop a comprehensive view of pediatrics. The goal of the book was to create a reference for students to ensure that they could make the most out of their short clinical rotation and at the same time, have a resource to learn about those critical aspects of pediatrics that may not have been part of their clinical experience. The book is an easy-to-read, pocket-sized reference. An outline format with hundreds of review questions, full-color illustrations, sidebars, and appendices. The Overview Chapter highlights the key features of pediatric care in the United States today.
Pediatrics Mentor: Pediatrics Clerkship & Shelf Exam Companion (ISBN-13: 978-0-8036-2351-4) is $46.95 (US). It will be available in bookstores, through online booksellers, or through the publisher .
