On January 1, 2015, the 2015 Year Book of Pediatrics was published and featured several commentaries from UCSF general pediatricians.  The Year Book of Pediatrics includes abstracts from the year’s most interesting developments in pediatrics, selected from more than 500 journals worldwide. Expert commentaries evaluate the clinical importance of each article and discuss its application to practice. Articles are selected to cover the full breadth of the specialty from general pediatrics to critical care and neonatology to adolescent medicine. 

The 2015 edition features over 150 articles, including commentaries by John Takayama, MD, MPH (Epidemiology of breastfeeding and obesity in Japan); Valerie Flaherman, MD, MPH (Interventions associated with increased breastfeeding in the nursery); Naomi Bardach, MD, MAS and Arpi Bekmezian, MD (Readmissions for pneumonia); Anisha Patel, MD; MSPH (Childhood consumption of sports-drink beverages) Rick Oken, MD (Economics of vaccine administration); Seth Bokser, MD, MPH (Patient preference for electronic health records); Elena Fuentes-Afflick, MD, MPH (Translation service use by pediatricians); Tom Newman, MD, MPH (Newborn sepsis screening);  Amy Whittle, MD and Anda Kuo, MD (Community pediatrics training), as well as Budd Shenkin, MD, MPP (Cost effectiveness of group well child visits).  The Year Book is edited by Michael D. Cabana, MD MPH, who recently succeeded James A. Stockman, MD.
